Home for the Holidays
Christmas is one of my favorite times of year. It is a busy time of year with all the decorating, shopping, wrapping, and cooking. One of the things I have always enjoyed is decorating the tree. Although I keep saying I am going to get a smaller one. Our tree is nine foot tall and my hubby has to get the ladder to put the angel on top. This year my youngest granddaughter, who is only two was my biggest helper in decorating the tree. Between me being so vertically challenged and her only being two we ended up with the bottom of the tree decorated and ran out of ornaments. I told my husband we needed to move some from the bottom to the top, but he liked it dripping with ornaments so he told me to go buy some more so he could do the top of the tree. All in all, it becomes a family affair.
I also love to wrap presents. I like to see how many different ways I can wrap them and how many different combinations I can come up with. Some years I am more creative than others. This year one of the jokes I am playing on my family is to see what kind of boxes I can find around the house to wrap their presents in. I think they will get a kick out of it when they open their presents on Christmas Eve.
What is your favorite gift to get or give at Christmas? I always like to get my girls and my grandchildren pajamas. Of course I also like to get them some clothes and the children a toy. We have a lot of fun opening our presents on Christmas Eve. When our kids were growing up we opened our presents on Christmas morning, but since they have grown up and have children of their own, we have our Christmas get together on Christmas Eve so they can be home with their children to open their presents on Christmas morning. It is funny how your Christmas traditions change over the years. What are some of your Christmas traditions?
